My attempt to draw the viewer's attention to a simple weed that grows in the wheat and oats fields of Indiana, much to the farmers' dismay. People notice the pods with their silky seed feathers, and often save, dry, and use them in local crafts; but, they don't see or recognize the beautiful bloom, a large ball of tiny purple flowers that hang from the top, which attract hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies.
The original painting is a 12x36 inch oil on canvas.
